The girls have just turned 21 months old — only a few more months before their 2nd Birthday! They’re learning so many fun new things these days. Their vocabulary is quickly growing, it seems, and I’m sure that soon it will really start to explode. A few of the things they have begun saying lately include “thank you” and “all gone” and “wash wash wash” when we wipe their hands or faces. These words are not articulated perfectly yet, of course, but they are consistent and quite recognizable to us. I know we’re supposed to savor every moment of the age they’re currently at, but with these first attempts at language I still can’t help but look forward to the time when they’ll be able to fully communicate their own thoughts. (And yes, I know that will bring its own set of challenges and headaches, but I think I will nevertheless prefer those to the challenges and headaches of trying to communicate with a child who is still mostly pre-verbal.)
Most of the time they’re still very good about playing together. Once in a while they want the same toy at the same time, and then some grabbing and fussing ensues. But most of the time, they do a pretty good job taking turns with the toys or even playing with them together simultaneously. Also, we frequently see them pick up two stuffed animals or two hats, so they can hang onto one and then run and give the other one to Sister.
And they love climbing on everything! These patio chairs in our back yard are the latest climbing obstacles they have conquered.
